  • We appraise the effectiveness of our work by the number of people we help and how their needs are met over a prolonged period.

Our first step is to identify neglected regions and establish contact with reputable local institutions to facilitate the distribution of aid. Once the partnerships are cemented we ask the community to identify their needs by making a 'wish list'. Our global network then begins the process of acquiring the supplies and the funds needed for transport.

  • Minimizing the politicization of our work in regions where clientelism is rampant proved to be challenging.

We counter this reality with a culture of transparency and accountability through partnership building, unprecedented documentation and most importantly tangible results. Aid is first independently appraised to justify transportation costs before being photographed, labeled, documented and finally shipped.

  • Regional coordinating mechanisms like the Red Cross and creditable religious institutions are designated as consignees while 28. Jun recruits members from the affected communities to enhance local capacity.

Once the donation reaches its destination our partners and volunteers check inventory lists to confirm the entirety of the aid has arrived before distributing it to the population.

  • The media is invited to cover the entire process which further demonstrates our commitment to transparency to our members, supporters and beneficiaries.

Additionally, an even more detailed record of the procedure is broadcast over our extensive social media platform which is updated daily. A follow up report is conducted 6 months after each delivery to assess how the aid is being utilized and how we can improve in the future.

What’s in a Name?

June 28th in the Gregorian Calendar is the feast day of St. Vitus, the patron saint of protection against storms.

Being an organization which exists to assist the needy through stormy times, we found it appropriate to name ourselves 28. Jun, a stylized spelling of June 28th.

How does 28. Jun stay relevant as a humanitarian organization?

To acquire, store and transport massive quantities of aid 28. Jun has to maintain a robust logistical infrastructure and consistent revenue streams. We work hard to engineer fresh models of funding diversification, recruiting campaigns and innovative partnerships.

How is 28. Jun managed?

28. Jun is comprised of 59 administrative members who make up our executive board, board of directors, and regional and sub-regional coordinators. They oversee and support our 150+ part time members and volunteers.

How does 28. Jun determine which areas receive aid?

28. Jun’s geospatial analysts identify regions most affected by unbalanced socioeconomic gradients in healthcare. Our resources are then channeled into the most impoverished cities, towns, villages and municipalities.

How will my donation get to those in need?

We pride ourselves on our efficient management of resources with 92% of our donations going directly into programs which include the acquisition, transportation and documentation of aid. 28. Jun is privileged to have formed lasting partnerships with the Red Cross and the UN.

Why was 28. Jun created?

The lack of effective assistance to the Western Balkans was the primary factor behind the creation of 28. Jun. Our inaugural task was to tackle the stigmatization of the region by educating the public while a focus on the humanitarian aspect fostered international partnerships.

What has 28. Jun done as an NGO?

During the 2014 Southeast Europe floods 28. Jun airlifted 30,000 lbs of urgent humanitarian relief into Belgrade from Toronto. It was the largest airborne donation Serbia received by a non-state actor during the natural disaster.

Who are 28. Jun’s partners and friends?

28. Jun has received generous material donations from Walmart, Gatorade and Target to name a few. We are honored to count World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, Inter Milan’s Zdravko Kuzmanovic and former UN General Assembly President Vuk Jeremic among our friends and supporters.

Who are the members of 28. Jun?

The average member age in 28. Jun is 25, we boast an essentially equal gender ratio and our supporters have collectively contributed over 200,000 volunteer hours (equivalent to 100 full time employees). Our social media platform has an extensive reach of nearly 200,000 followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
